Screens and Tracks: What’s Actually Included in a Full Window Clean

When you book a window cleaning, you might picture clean glass and nothing else. But the parts around the glass — screens, tracks, sills and frames — affect how clean your windows look and how long they stay that way. Here is what a full clean should include, and why each part matters near the coast.

Screens

Screens trap dust, pollen and salt. When it rains or sprinklers hit them, that grime runs straight onto freshly cleaned glass. A full clean removes screens, washes them, and reinstalls them. Screens with torn or brittle mesh can be rescreened, and our guide to torn window screens explains when replacement makes sense.

Tracks

Sliding window and door tracks collect beach sand, dead insects and salt that turns to paste in morning moisture. Dirty tracks make sliders stiff and can block weep holes. Detailing involves vacuuming loose debris, brushing packed grime out of channels and wiping them clean. See track, sill and frame cleaning.

Sills

Interior sills gather dust and condensation rings; exterior sills collect dirt splashed up by rain and sprinklers. Wiping them finishes the look — clean glass above a dirty sill still looks unfinished.

Frames

Aluminum frames near the ocean can develop chalky oxidation, while vinyl frames show gray film. Frames are brushed and wiped with non-abrasive products so the finish is not scratched.

What Is Usually Not Included

  • Repairing broken screen frames or hardware (quoted separately)
  • Blinds, shutters and curtains
  • Removing permanent etching from glass
  • Fixing fog between double panes, which is a failed seal
